Just back from St Romualdo's Camaldoli, 13 women hermits in Italy meeting together, some of us having had families, being addressed by a prior who had had a family, exploring together the new/old values of monasticism. And being enveloped by monks in silence, serving Mass, then serving breakfast, like living amongst angels. I talked of the Lady Julian and of St Bridget of Kildare and of St Birgitta of Sweden as models for us today. Blessings,

Lovely..and thoughtful..as always the words you write
"..the monastic values of community, friendship, silence and solitude, compassion, and spiritual accompaniment, seem not to belong to any one of these historical figures in particular, but are indeed our common heritage, values that all of us — whether we live in a cloister or not — can and should incorporate into our spiritual lives today" resonate like music...a beautiful call almost impossible to resist! Thanks, Carl
