Hi friends, just want to make sure everyone is aware of two upcoming retreats I am doing online. If one or both of these topics appeal to you, I hope you’ll join me!
On October 22 and 23, the Rock Hill Oratory is sponsoring a retreat called “The Wisdom of the Christian Imagination” featuring insights from the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis. I know fantasy isn’t everyone’s cuppa joe, but if you are like me and love to explore the dreamworlds of Narnia and Middle Earth, then please come to this retreat and let’s connect the dots between visionary fiction and contemplative prayer! Then on October 30, Contemplative Outreach Atlanta has invited me to lead a day retreat on Celtic spirituality: “At the Edge of Waiting.” Everyone loves the nature mysticism of Celtic Christianity, but did you know there is a deep contemplative wisdom embedded in the stories and prayers of ancient Ireland, Scotland and Wales? Come walk in the footsteps of Saint Brigid, Saint Columba, Saint Kevin, and other spiritual heroes of the past — and discover how their wisdom still speaks to us today. There you go. Hope to see you at one — or both! — of these online events.
