During the first week of June I am giving a retreat based on my book Eternal Heart for the Sisters of Saint Francis in Rochester, Minnesota. Although this is a cloistered retreat and not open to the public in person, we are offering an option to participate in the retreat via Zoom. You can sign up for the entire seven day retreat, or you have the option to attend just the first half, or the second half (I’m structuring the retreat so each “half” can stand alone for those who cannot attend the entire program).

In the words of Teilhard de Chardin, joy is an “infallible sign of the presence of God.” How do we nurture joy in our lives? Where does it come from? How can it make a difference in the ordinary rhythms of each day? Our retreat will consider joy — a fruit of the Holy Spirit — as a gift given to us through divine grace. Indeed, joy is one of many gifts the Spirit gives us — in our hearts. By considering the “gifts of the heart” as invitations into prayer, we will reflect on how joy is given to us, and how we can most graciously receive this life-affirming gift.
Each portion of the retreat will include several talks that I’ll be giving, along with prompts for prayer that you can integrate into your daily spiritual practice. A Zoom retreat is a great opportunity to bring the energy of a monastic retreat into your own home or office, a way to practice integrating the gifts of contemplative spirituality into the blessings of everyday life. I hope you’ll join us!
