Hi friends! Join me on Thursday, January 19 for a special Zoom call in which I’ll be sharing Evelyn Underhill’s Three Forms of Contemplation. Click here to register for this free program.
If you’re not familiar with Evelyn Underhill, a treat awaits you. She a leading Christian mystic of the early 20th century, and her writings influenced other significant contemplatives and mystics, from C. S. Lewis to Thomas Merton to Aldous Huxley! Her 1911 book Mysticism has for over a century now been regarded as one of the classic studies of contemplative spirituality — and has directly inspired my own work as a contemplative writer and blogger.
But Evelyn Underhill was more than just a scholar or historian of mystical spirituality; she also was a renowned retreat leader and spiritual director who supported many others on their journey to a deeper and more vibrant spiritual life.
On January 19, we’ll look at Underhill’s wisdom on how to integrate a contemplative practice — and worldview — into your own daily life. I’ve been inspired by Underhill’s wisdom for over 40 years now, so I’m excited to share her insights with you!

Our time together will include a presentation on Evelyn Underhill, what she taught, why her wisdom continues to matter, and how we can integrate the mystical wisdom of the past into our spirituality today. As a bonus, I’ll be sharing information on my forthcoming book, including the title and cover art! The book will be published in August — learn about it here, including how you can get an autographed copy when it is published!
I’ll also be previewing several online courses I’ll be producing in 2023, on the contemplative wisdom of Julian of Norwich, Howard Thurman, Underhill, and more!
