Throughout 2024 I wrote and recorded twenty-four meditations, based on wisdom teachings from three spiritual traditions:
- The Eight Beatitudes from the wisdom teachings of Jesus;
- The Noble Eightfold Path from the wisdom teachings of Buddha;
- The Wheel of the Year, based on Celtic traditions.
These meditations were given live over Zoom, but each one was recorded, and they are now available for members of Patreon — a membership website for people who support artists, writers and musicians. My writing ministry has been funded by generous members of Patreon since 2017. If you enjoy my blog and would like to have access to exclusive content from me — including these meditations, and new Zoom meetings based on the wisdom of the mystics, along with a library of poetry, written meditations, and other content exclusively for Patreon members, then please join Patreon today: here is the link to join.
Here’s an overview of the meditations:
Meditations on the Beatitudes:
- “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
- “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
- “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.”
- “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”
- “Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.”
- “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.”
- “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”
- “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Meditations on the Noble Eight-Fold Path:
- “Right View”
- “Right Intention”
- “Right Speech”
- “Right Action”
- “Right Livelihood”
- “Right Effort”
- “Right Mindfulness”
- “Right Concentration”
Meditations on the Wheel of the Year:
- Imbolc: the First Signs of Spring
- Ostara: the Spring Equinox
- Beltane: May Day
- Litha: the Summer Solstice
- Lammas: the First Fruits of Harvest
- Mabon: the Fall Equinox
- Samhain: the End of the Harvest
- Yule: the Winter Solstice
Each meditation lasts about 45 minutes, but half of that time is given to silence. Each of these series of meditations can help you not only to strengthen your daily contemplative practice, but also to reflect on how different wisdom teachings from around the world can be applied to your own life and spiritual practice. And in most of these meditations, I touch on wisdom from multiple traditions, so if you’re interested in how the wisdom of the Buddha can shed light on the teachings of Christ (or vice versa), then these meditations might be deeply appealing to you.
